NATHAN SHELTON (AEA, SAG/AFTRA-eligible) currently works as an actor, writer, director and designer in Chicago, IL. With a performing career spanning almost 30 years, Nathan works regularly in theatre/film/television, including multiple national commercials and animated projects, web series, and films: including roles in Above Ground (featured on Showtime), the internationally acclaimed web series, Shadow Bound (soon to be a feature film) and the EMMY award-winning web series, EPILOGUE, as well as hosting the 4th season of the EMMY Award winning television program, Show-Me Chefs. Nathan is currently represented by Voices & Talent Agency and TalentPlus.
As a stage & screen writer, Nathan has been honored numerous times including the Critic's Choice Award at the prestigious NYC Samuel French Short Play Festival in 2005 for his one act play, Tinker Toys. His feature screenplay, Unspeakable, won critical acclaim as a finalist in the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival, the Wildsound Film Festival, and the London International Independent Film Festival (2008). Nathan currently serves as executive producer and head writer with his company, ARCANE, producing the horror radio anthology series, The Frightmare Theatre Podcast.
Aside from acting & writing, Nathan is an award-winning director/producer of numerous stage and screen productions, including Dracula at the Vandivort Center Theatre (labeled one of the “Best Things to Happen in Springfield” in 2008 by GO Magazine) In 2012, Nathan adapted and directed George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead as a horror/comedy and produced the live show as one of the final productions to be staged in the historic Vandivort Center Theatre with Springfield Contemporary Theatre. Nathan produced and directed the award-winning web series, Shadow Bound and is currently gearing up to direct the feature film, Eldritch USA (shooting in late 2020).
For over 25 years Nathan has worked regularly as a special effect makeup designer, and in 2010, he was honored as one of 417 Magazine’s “Top 20 under 30 People in Springfield” for his work as special effects prosthetic designer for the Academy Award Nominated indie film, WINTER’S BONE. In 2013 Nathan won "BEST MAKEUP EFFECTS" at LA WEBFEST, and was nominated for an IAWTV AWARD for "BEST MAKEUP DESIGN" for the EMMY Award-Winning, EPILOGUE WEB SERIES. Nathan's FX work was again recognized for the silent-horror web series, SHADOW BOUND (nominated for Best Special Effects at Miami Web Fest in 2014). Most recently his SFX work may be seen in the feature films Everything, The Rake (Amazon Prime), Above Ground (Showtime), the Scum of the Earth music video, "Dance MotherF@#ker" (featuring Rob Zombie's former guitarist, Jehovah Riggs), and the upcoming film, Faces (featuring PATTON OSWALT).
