Nathan Shelton

Nathan Shelton is a Chicago-based multifaceted artist, working regularly on stage, screen, & as a voice actor. Nathan is represented by DDO Artists Agency - Chicago.  Originally from southwest Missouri, he grew up in the theatre and started working professionally at the age of ten.  Nathan worked towards a BFA in Acting from Missouri State University.

Nathan was a member of the Y.E.S. Troupe with Springfield Little Theatre and later performed with the In-School Players, a children's theatre scripted & improvisational performance group.  He was fortunate enough to be a company member with the summer-stock company, Tent Theatre, for nine years, where he became a local audience favorite for his comedic & musical theatre performances.

 

Nathan is a proud member of both SAG-AFTRA and AEA, earning his Equity membership by playing Charles Dickens in a production of  "A Christmas Carol" with the Swan Repertory Theatre Company in 2008 (opposite the incomparable, Robert Westenberg).   

While in college, Nathan soon developed a love for directing & producing, forming his own theatre company to produce a stage adaptation of Dracula in 2005.  He has since produced/ directed many regional theatrical productions as well as screen & audio projects with his company, Arcane.

Aside from acting & directing, Nathan works as an SFX makeup artist for stage and screen.  His FX work has been seen in such films as the Academy Award-nominated, Winter's Bone (with Jennifer Lawrence) and the Sci-Fi adventure film, MEAD (with Robert Picardo & Patton Oswalt), to name a few.

Nathan is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter as well.  His short play, Tinker Toys, won the Critic's Choice Award at the 2005 Samuel French Short Play Festival in NYC.  He continues to provide private acting coaching, as well as teaching workshops in acting, directing, writing, & special effects makeup design.
